About

The Department of Space Science and Engineering at National Central University focuses on education and research in space science and related engineering applications. The department builds on NCU’s long-standing academic foundation in atmospheric physics, upper atmospheric physics, and space science.

In 1990, NCU established Taiwan’s first Graduate Institute of Space Science. The institute was renamed the Graduate Institute of Space Science and Engineering in 2019. In 2020, the undergraduate Space Science group and the graduate institute were integrated to form the Department of Space Science and Engineering, offering Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. programs.

The department provides training in space science, observation techniques, data analysis, numerical simulation, and space-related engineering practice. Students may develop toward scientific research, engineering applications, or interdisciplinary work in space science and technology.
