Introduction

The Department of Space Science and Engineering was established in 1990 and began offering B.S., M.S. and PhD. degree programs in space science and engineering in 2020. It is now home to 15 faculty members, as well as 6 adjunct faculty members from the Center for Space and Remote Sensing Research and the Graduate Institute of Astronomy. The department conducts research in the fields of space environment and space exploration: The space environment field includes upper atmosphere, ionosphere, magnetosphere, interplanetary space and Sun, planetary science, space plasma simulation and space weather. The space exploration field contains radar components and system, science payload, CubeSat, and satellite remote sensing technology using satellite.

The department is the primary institution in Taiwan providing rich and varied programs and research laboratories in space science and engineering and continuously participating in many domestic and international research projects and collaborations with worldwide space institutions. Students can participate space missions to develop their talents and promote domestic space economy in the future.
