National Central University (NCU) is one of Taiwan's leading universities specializing in Earth and Space Science research, with a main campus located in the Zhongli (Jhongli) District of Taoyuan City. The workshop will be held in the NCU Chien-Hsiung Building (S4) on level 2 (Room S4-209). The building is roughly a 10 minute walk from the main gates of the NCU campus.
Zhongli to National Central University
The NCU campus is accessible from Zhongli via Taoyuan Bus 132. The bus departs from Taoyuan Bus Company Zhongli Station every 20 minutes on weekdays. The bus station is a 5 minute walk from the Zhongli Railway Station. Fare is NT$18, with a travel time of 20 - 30 minutes. There are 6 bus stops on the NCU campus. We reccomend that you alight at Jhongda Lake (中大湖), which is the third bus stop on campus, and a 5 minute walk from the workshop venue at the Chien-Hsiung Building.
Zhongli is serviced by the YouBike public bicycle share system. Bicycles are avaliable at kiosks located throughout the city, with a rental rate of NT$10 per half hour for the first 2 hours, with the first 30 minutes free. A valid EasyCard or iPass IC farepass and Taiwan mobile phone number are required to register. YouBike stations are avaliable in front of Zhongli Railway Station, as well as at the NCU Library. NCU is approximately a 20 minute bicycle ride from Zhongli Railway Station.
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to Zhongli
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is Taiwan's primary international gateway located roughly one hour outside Taipei. Zhongli is accessible via bus, taxi, or high speed rail.
Airport busses to a variety of locations avaliable. From the airport bus terminal, take bus 705 to Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) Taoyuan Station. Transfer to bus 170 to the Zhongli Bus Company Central Station （中壢客運中壢總站）. This station is within 10 minutes walking distance to the Park Hotel and Fullon Hotel, and a 5 minute walk from the Taoyuan Bus Company Zhongli Station (departure point for busses to NCU).
Metered taxis are avaliable from the airport to Zhongli or NCU. Fares are usually in the range of NT$500 - 700 depending on traffic conditions.
The Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) Zhongli Railway Station is a 5 - 10 minute walk from the Taoyuan Bus Company Zhongli Station, as well as the Park and Fullon Hotels. Local and express trains are avaliable every 15 - 20 minutes during the day. Taipei City is 50 minutes from Zhongli by local train.
Taiwan Visa information is avaliable from the Bureau of Consular Affairs. Invitation letters can be provided by the local organizing committee upon request. We reccomend that all guests begin visa procedures at least two months prior to the workshop.
